Business Development Manager

What We’re Looking For

The Business Development Manager/Senior Manager is responsible for supporting the delivery of the new business forecast for MedThink. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and outreaching to potential new partners, evaluating opportunities, and coordinating and contributing content to all proposal and pitch efforts.  This position will report to the SVP of Client Engagement and will serve as a vital support member of the agency’s New Business Team, owning both short and long-term outreach initiatives in order to meet our business goals.

What You’ll Do

The Business Development Manager/Senior Manager will own planning, networking, evaluation and delivery of key new business initiatives in support of the agency’s overall business goals. In this role, you’ll:

Planning

  • Lead the development of division new business annual plan(s)
  • Contribute to budgeting process for division and department
  • Lead monthly new business team meetings and establish reporting structure for success

Networking and Evaluation

  • Actively identify and qualify opportunities and routinely meet with potential new partners.
  • Cultivate relationships and position agency for future opportunities
  • Help to maintain agency brand in the business community, working with agency Senior Marketing Manager to identify opportunities for agency promotion
  • Work with Senior Marketing Manager to identify opportunities for key staff members to establish thought leadership within the industry
  • Represent agency at key conferences

Delivery

  • Coordinate all RFI, RFP and pitch efforts and facilitate brainstorming sessions
  • Contribute content to capability, proposal and pitch deliverables 
  • Manage the presentation “experience” and own the “run of show” for all presentations
  • Present capabilities and pitches, as appropriate
  • Successfully transition relationship to account lead through established onboarding processes

CRM Tool Maintenance

  • Track all activities within agency CRM tool to ensure leadership team is apprised of updates
  • Ensure all support team is utilizing CRM for daily communications re: new business prospecting and pitching
  • Own reporting structure of CRM outputs, and the presentation of status to leadership team

  • An outgoing and amicable personality with ability to establish rapport quickly with prospects and build meaningful long-term relationships
  • The willingness to travel and go above and beyond the typical work day to meet impending deadlines

Your Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the marketing, communications or science-related field
  • Manager (3-5 years); Senior Manager (5-7 years) of pharmaceutical agency (advertising, promotional medical education or scientific/medical communications) experience with senior-level marketing contacts
  • Previous business development experience with a proven track record of acquiring new accounts
