Department and Position Overview:

The Senior Account Executive supports the Account Supervisor/ Account Director, as well as business development and client services efforts by implementing and managing projects in a timely and efficient way, and by assuring top-level delivery to meet client expectations. Responsible for developing, managing, and directing all aspects of various medical education projects.

The SAE will acquire thorough knowledge of client’s business (disease state, product, competitors, etc.) so that challenges and opportunities may be anticipated. The SAE will maintain continuous learning to ensure thorough understanding of regulatory guidelines (FDA, AMA, PhRMA, OIG, etc).

Responsibilities include the timely and organized planning, project management and budget oversight, coordination and communication through all phases of projects to ensure client satisfaction.

Tactical experience for supporting AS/AD for some the following:

  • Speaker Bureau (live and virtual): versed in process flow, required logistics, content development, sales force training
  • Symposia/Product Theaters: KOL and content management, drivers and metrics
  • Congress activities (booth, meet the speakers, etc.)
  • KOL identification and management
  • Print and digital content deliverables: case studies, monographs, syllabus, posters, abstracts, publications
  • Advisory Boards: agenda/content development, KOL management, FMV and contracts, onsite management
  • Websites: disease state and branded
  • Non-personal promotion: banner ads, advertorials

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage/coordinate all aspects of assigned projects; startup, estimates, tactical brief, status, content and creative development, client status, final deliverable
  • Demonstrate solid understanding of client therapeutic area
  • Draft and edit documents with regard to content, tone, and style
  • Lead client conference calls and meetings
  • Proactive follow-up to client and team members for next steps
  • Ensures that all project timetables are met
  • Document client meetings (live or telecon) concisely and accurately (contact reports)
  • Prepares and sends materials to vendor and clients
  • Schedules and prepares materials for client meetings including submissions for Medical/Legal/Regulatory review
  • Works closely with Project Management department to execute all details of projects
  • Provides effective direction to internal team
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Supports Account Supervisor (AS) and Account Director (AD) in cultivating and building solid relationships with clients
  • Performs research as directed by AS/AD
  • Keeps internal team apprised of client activities and needs
  • Identifies and organizes growth opportunities within current client base
  • Keeps supervisors aware of all issues within client’s organization and within agency
  • Partners with internal and external team members to avoid/resolve conflict

Talent & Knack:

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum), preferably in health sciences, marketing, or communications field
  • 2 to 4 years of promotional medical education or pharmaceutical advertising experience is mandatory.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, follow-through and on-time completion of tasks
  • Adapt to variations in workload and working conditions while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor
  • Ability to manage numerous projects, requests, and responsibilities
  • Thorough understanding of the Medical/Legal Review process
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Be willing/able to travel to client meetings/events
  • Ability to manage JAE or AE where needed
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
